They are one unit mounted at the front of the engine that usually either leak oil down the front of the engine and or a coolant/oil leak from the cooler or coolant pipes. They can also leak internally inside the oil cooler filter housing causing the oil and coolant to mix via a leaking internal gasket. The original gaskets installed cant cope with high engine temperature and exposure to oil and almost always fail, the material they were made from goes hard, brittle, cracks and shrinks hence the leaks.
