100/1000M RJ45 Ethernet Cat5e/6 surge protector with PoE support. Simply install in-line on an RJ45 Cat5e/6 cable. The surge protector has two RJ45 female jacks, making in-line installation simple and straightforward. It protects Ethernet devices such as switches, routers, laptops/computers, IP cameras, etc. from damaging surges caused by static electricity. Furthermore, the PoE function ALLOWS PoE-enabled devices to remain powered while still being protected from harmful strikes or voltage spikes. IMPORTANT: Two things are crucial and should NOT be missed when using the Ethernet surge protector: Correct placement: IN jack on the unprotected part of the cable and OUT jack on the protected side of the cable. Reverse installation still allows network traffic and operation, but there will be no surge protection. Proper grounding: note the yellow/green ground wire. This wire MUST be connected to proper ground in the building. Consult a qualified electrician about such grounding or search for information on the Internet. Without proper grounding, the surge protector will not be able to drain the surge and will be ineffective.
