8inch Dual-Surface Ceramic Sharpening Rod

Measuring approximately 330mm overall and weighing 159g, this ceramic sharpening rod features a 210mm active sharpening zone made from durable aluminium oxide ceramic, paired with an ergonomically shaped ABS plastic handle. The rod’s dual-surface design separates coarse sharpening (grooved side) from fine honing (smooth side), allowing progressive edge restoration without switching tools. It is compatible with all common metal-bladed items — kitchen knives, scissors, nail clippers, sickles and orchard shears — but explicitly unsuitable for ceramic blades. The handle includes a hanging hole for vertical storage and is permanently joined to the rod using hot-melt bonding technology, eliminating play or separation even after repeated pressure application. Designed for daily UK kitchen use, it requires no power, oil or maintenance — just consistent technique and occasional cleaning with a damp cloth.
