FireWire 800 PCIe Adapter

This PCI-Express x1 add-in card restores FireWire 800 (IEEE 1394b) and FireWire 400 (1394a) connectivity to Windows and macOS desktops. Built around a compliant 1394a/b controller, it operates at full 800 Mbps over FireWire 800 cables and scales down to 400 Mbps for legacy devices. Form factor: standard low-profile PCIe card; material: flame-retardant plastic housing; weight: ~35 g. Includes one FireWire cable and one USB cable (style and colour randomly assigned, non-customisable). No drivers pre-installed — requires OS-native or chipset vendor drivers (e.g., Texas Instruments or JMicron-based stacks). The card supports up to 63 daisy-chained devices per bus and handles isochronous traffic natively — ideal for synchronising multiple DV cameras, feeding uncompressed video into Blackmagic DeckLink or AJA Kona capture cards, or connecting legacy scientific instruments reliant on FireWire timing protocols. Target users include archival technicians digitising MiniDV/HDV tapes, AV post-production houses maintaining legacy workflows, and automation engineers integrating FireWire-enabled sensors or motion controllers into PC-based control systems.
