The Optical Dust Sensor (GP2Y1010AU0F) is particularly effective at detecting particles, such as smoke, and is commonly used in air purifier systems. This device features an infrared light-emitting diode and a phototransistor, arranged diagonally, to detect light reflected by dust particles in the air. The sensor has extremely low current consumption (20mA maximum, 11mA typical) and can operate with up to 7VDC. The output is an analog voltage proportional to the measured dust concentration, with a sensitivity of 0.5V/0.1mg/m.
