Available for the first time on CD, trumpeter Guy Barker's debut album 'Holly J', which was originally released in 1989 on LP only, has been comprehensively re-mastered with a much "bigger" sound. 'Holly J' features the astounding talents of Jason Rebello who was only 18-years old at the time as well as a youthful Nigel Hitchcock on saxophones. The variety and musical interest is also enhanced by the inclusion of veteran vibes player Frank Ricotti whose contribution adds much colour. <p>Music Critic Mike Hennessey summed up the session succinctly when he said "For a band which has never worked together previously as a unit, the performances on this album are quire remarkable for their cohesion, the relaxed compatibility of the musicians, and the range, technical resourcefulness, and emotional intensity of the solo work.
