This Level 3 audio amplifier power filter operates across a universal single-phase AC input range of 110–250 V and delivers filtered AC output at the same voltage, rated for up to 10 A continuous load. Its core construction is a robust PCB assembly populated with industrial-grade filtering components, finished in black. Input connects via a 3-wire 7.62 mm pitch socket (L/N/PE), while output uses a 2-wire 7.62 mm socket (L/N). Grounding flexibility allows connection of the input GND terminal either to the mains protective earth conductor or to the host device’s metal chassis — enabling optimal noise mitigation depending on installation context. The circuit implements a true three-level electromagnetic interference (EMI) filter: first, differential-mode filtering using two matched inductors targets asymmetrical noise; second and third, cascaded common-mode stages — each combining X2-rated capacitors and toroidal common-mode chokes — tackle symmetrical line-to-earth noise. This staged approach delivers superior attenuation of fast repetitive transients (e.g., kilohertz-range burst noise from LED drivers, dimmers or switching PSUs), which standard filters often fail to suppress. Used before power amplifiers or digital audio sources, it cleans the incoming AC supply by removing DC offset, damping transformer mechanical vibration (buzz), and eliminating high-frequency hash — yielding measurable improvements in soundstage depth, low-level detail, and background silence, particularly noticeable in high-resolution playback systems.
