High-Speed CAN Bus Communication Module with Protocol Controller Interface

The MCP2551 is a high-speed CAN transceiver that serves as a CAN protocol controller and physical bus interface. It provides differential receiver capability for the CAN protocol controller and fully complies with the ISO-11898 standard, including operation in 24V systems. Each node on a CAN network requires a device to convert digital signals from the CAN controller into bus-compatible signals. The device includes protection buffers between the CAN controller and high-voltage spikes that may occur on the bus due to external sources. It supports data rates up to 1 Mbps. It meets ISO-11898 physical layer requirements and is suitable for both 12V and 24V systems. Features include slope control for reduced RFI, automatic ground fault detection at the TXD input, power-on reset, and undervoltage protection. The device does not disturb the CAN bus during power-up or undervoltage conditions. It operates in low-current standby mode. Up to 112 nodes can be connected on a single bus. Material: Metal.
