High-Speed CAN Bus Interface Module for Communication Protocol Control

The MCP2551 is a high-speed CAN transceiver that serves as a CAN protocol controller and physical bus interface. It provides differential receiver capability for the CAN protocol controller and fully complies with the ISO-11898 standard, including 24V operation. Each node on the CAN network requires a device to convert digital signals from the CAN controller into bus-compatible signals. The device includes protection buffers between the CAN controller and high-voltage spikes on the bus, which may originate from external sources. Supports data rates up to 1 Mbps. Meets ISO-11898 physical layer requirements. Compatible with 12V and 24V systems. Features slope control for reduced RFI. Includes automatic ground fault detection at the TXD input.
