OutdoorRated 86Type Socket Protector

Precision-engineered 9.3 × 9.2 × 8.6 cm cover for 86-type sockets deployed in unsheltered EV charging applications. Constructed from UV-resistant polycarbonate (PC), offering proven resistance to photodegradation, thermal shock, and mechanical fatigue. Designed to fit standard UK/EU 86 mm square socket modules — whether installed flush into brickwork or surface-mounted on metal or timber substrates. The front-facing overhang is optimised to intercept precipitation at multiple angles while allowing full visual verification of socket status and unobstructed cable insertion. No screws, clips, or fasteners needed: relies on precise dimensional tolerance and PC’s slight flexibility for snap-on retention. This is not a generic enclosure — it is a functional component of the charging system’s environmental resilience strategy. It does not enclose the entire socket assembly, but protects only the vulnerable interface zone: the live terminals and mating surface where failure most frequently occurs. Maintains compliance with BS 7671 wiring regulations by avoiding heat-trapping designs or conductive materials. Used extensively in: new-build housing developments with external EV provision; university campus scooter fleets; rural B&Bs installing guest-accessible charging; and local authority public charging nodes where uptime, ease of servicing, and durability are contractually mandated.
