Sterile PDA Agar Plates For Mushroom Isolation

Plastic Petri dishes (90 mm × 15 mm) pre-filled with a uniform 18–22 mm depth of Potato Dextrose Agar (PDA), sterilised by steam autoclaving and sealed with breathable tape. Each plate weighs approximately 12 g; full pack of 10 weighs ~120 g. Manufactured daily in a cleanroom-aligned environment using pharmaceutical-grade dextrose and potato infusion extract, with strict pH control (5.6 ± 0.2) and moisture retention testing per batch. The thick agar layer resists drying during standard 5–14 day incubation periods at 18–25°C, supporting clear colony formation and hyphal spreading without cracking or shrinking. Surface is smooth and non-absorbent, allowing precise streaking, dilution plating or tissue implantation. No additives, antibiotics or dyes — pure PDA formulation for unbiased fungal phenotyping. Intended for academic fungal isolation workflows: spore print analysis, strain verification, contamination screening of grain spawn or liquid culture, and comparative morphology studies. Compatible with UK-accredited school lab safety standards (CLEAPSS guidance S258) and widely adopted in FE/HE mycology modules.
