A Professional tracking force gauge designed for vinyl record enthusiasts interested in precise measurement of vertical tracking force (VTF). For accurate VTF measurement, the stylus tip should be at the same vertical position as the record surface — at "record level". With this professional VTF gauge, vertical tracking force is measured approximately 2 mm to 3 mm from the surface of a turntable mat or platter — matching the height of a stylus tip resting on an LP record, which typically ranges from 1.9 mm to 2.9 mm in thickness. The gauge arm allows correct stylus height without removing the platter mat. In contrast, less expensive gauges often measure at distances between 6 and 10 mm, leading to inaccurate tracking force readings. To minimize interference with magnets in moving magnet (MM) and moving coil (MC) cartridges, the gauge is constructed from durable plastic, and the detachable cantilevered extension arm is made from non-ferromagnetic stainless steel. Two calibration masses (5g and 20g) are included for easy re-calibration, a process that takes about one minute. The gauge can be re-calibrated for use up to 100 g when used with larger calibration masses (not included). A polymer pad on the measuring platform protects the stylus tip and ensures precise centering during measurement. The LED display emits a bright green light for clear visibility.
