V8 Small Block STEM Model Kit

A rigorously developed V8 small block motor model kit for adult STEM engagement — combining mechanical authenticity with pedagogical clarity. Physical specs: 12.5 × 8.2 × 7.3 cm, 420 g. Built using industrial-grade ABS with chromed steel crankshaft, brass pushrods and rubber-tipped lifters for realistic tactile feedback. Every surface detail — from spark plug threads to water jacket contours — matches original engineering drawings. Assembly requires no cutting, gluing or soldering; all fasteners included and pre-sorted. The model supports layered learning: beginners explore piston motion and crank throw; intermediate users analyse valve overlap and dwell; advanced learners calculate theoretical compression ratio using provided bore/stroke measurements. Instruction booklet includes glossary of 32 key terms (e.g., ‘deck height’, ‘quench area’, ‘scavenge port’) with UK spelling and contextual definitions. Used by universities in Birmingham and Coventry for foundation-year engineering labs; also adopted by Rolls-Royce apprenticeship pathways as a pre-workshop familiarisation tool — validating its relevance to real-world UK industry expectations.
